根据ZDNet的报道，随着Linux 6.15内核的即将发布，Linux将结束对486及首批Pentium处理器的支持。
Linus Torvalds在Linux内核邮件列表上表示，现在是放弃对i486支持的时候了，因为几乎没有人会继续在这一领域进行开发。
虽然继续在Pentium处理器上运行Linux是可能的，但用户将必须使用“博物馆内核。
技术的进步意味着我们必须告别那些曾经辉煌的旧时代，旧硬件就如同博物馆中的展品，值得怀念却不再适合现代生活。
